LED Upgrades (Basically Every Lamp Has Been Touched.)

Oh yes, MGB lights are dim! It didn't help that the previous owner didn't drive the car much at night!

There is nothing wrong with converting to LEDs. If anything, they're brighter, consume less energy, and give overall piece of mind.
However, a word of caution: be careful what you use for your dash bulbs.

What I converted:
  • Side Lamps (BA9s)
  • Brake Lights (1157, red)
  • Turn Signals (1157 in front, 1156 in rear)
  • Dash Button/Indicator Lights (BA7)
  • Dash Instrument Lights (E10 - DO NOT BUY THESE FROM AMAZON - THEY MAY SHORT, AND WILL FALL APART)
    • I am currently experimenting and trying to find better dash lights.... will return with info soon. (for now, sadly, I am back to dim normal E10 lights)
  • "Dome" Light (Festoon 42mm)
  • License Plate Lights (41mm Festoon Bulb)
  • Reverse Lights
  • Headlamps (Hikari, H4-9003)
    • I initially replaced these with the stock bulbs in the Hella 165mm kit (002395801) but swapped to LED as I was concerned about the amount of heat and did not want to stress the headlamp switch. (probably the "more correct" electrical thing would be to put in a relay)

Something else of interest:
  • My rheostat fell apart. (I suspect it was broken long before I touched it.)
    • Would highly suggest you take out the rheostat and instead make an adapter with spade connectors to a inline fuse holder. (I used a 2A fuse.)

Every single bulb had to be removed from the gauge itself. YOU DO NOT WANT THIS PAIN.

Nope, that's not how it's supposed to look....
